Trenport - public consultation on mixed-use scheme in Hilton, Derby
Commercial challenge
Following a recommendation from no less than three different consultants, Gough was hired by Trenport to carry out full public consultation and stakeholder engagement for a scheme including an unnamed food store, a drive-thru and new SME space in the village of Hilton, tasked alongside the project team with ensuring planning permission was granted.
Human approach
Gough arranged all engagement activity and set up the public exhibition in full so the project team could ‘walk in and begin’ alongside us.Due to the nature of the event, we introduced a Kids Corner for children to sit and draw/colour in whilst their parents discussed the scheme. We took the time to speak with residents and local politicians, and ultimately generated c70% support for the scheme.
We ensured all information was also available online, and offline, we attracted potential tenants for the employment space who publicly supported the scheme and wrote to the council to pledge their support.
