Commercial challenge

Gough was appointed to help secure planning consent for a new care home and MSCP on Greenbelt land next to Darent Valley Hospital, where Very Special Circumstances would need to be achieved.

Human approach

Gough implemented a local public consultation exercise to ensure neighbours were aware of the plans and able to feedback comments.

In addition, we ensured the relationship with the Hospital and the ability to free up bed space with a care home on the doorstep was front of centre of all communications. We arranged for our client to brief the Chair of the Hospital Trust and generate her direct support to the local authority.

Results

The planning application was approved via Very Special Circumstances and the care home can now be built, addressing need both at the Hospital itself and amongst the local community.
